The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia

At Inaburra, we are proud to offer our students the opportunity to participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia – a globally recognised program that inspires young people (aged 14-25) to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and contribute to their community.

It encourages participants to uncover their purpose, passion and place in the world by achieving goals in four key areas:

  • Skill Development: Explore a new interest or deepen an existing passion.
  • Physical Activity: Commit to regular physical activity to enhance health and fitness.
  • Voluntary Service: Give back to the community through meaningful service.
  • Adventurous Journey: Embark on an expedition that fosters teamwork, resilience, and a connection to nature.

The Duke of Ed is structured across three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level builds on the previous, offering increasingly rewarding challenges.

The Duke of Ed aligns with our school’s commitment to fostering students’ learning character. It equips young people to plan effectively, persevere through challenges, and overcome obstacles. Additionally, it nurtures values of service by empowering, encouraging, and supporting others with respect and honour. The framework promotes personal growth, resilience, and responsibility, encouraging students to embark on a journey of self-discovery and improvement.

Why participate?

The Duke of Ed complements the academic, social, and spiritual development of students at Inaburra. Benefits include:

  • Building confidence and leadership skills.
  • Enhancing time management, goal-setting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Gaining recognition from universities and employers for demonstrating commitment and initiative.
  • Creating unforgettable memories and friendships.
