Junior School will be celebrating Grandparent’s Day on Tuesday 4 June 2019 from 11:45am.

Are you concerned about your child’s relationships, self image, compulsive or addictive behaviour? Do you want a better understanding of the dangers of unfettered online activity? Come along to a Community Awareness Session where guest speaker, Marshall Ballantine-Jones will discuss these topics, plus teenage mental health and exposing the online space. This is a free community event hosted by Inaburra School. There will be an opportunity for questions at the end of the presentation. Tea and coffee will be served. The concert will feature the following ensembles:

• Senior Concert Band

Developing literacy skills early in life has been proven to benefit children greatly in their transition to Kindergarten.

Inaburra’s Early Literacy sessions are designed to equip families with strategies that will assist their child acquire foundational literacy skills. They will cover tactics for engaging children with books, stories, songs and rhymes, as well as language development, learning to read and developing childrens’ love of reading. The sessions also explain the links between early reading and writing, and ways to foster them.

Free sessions will be held in the Inaburra Junior School Library on the following dates (you only need attend one event):

Over two big nights the Inaburra Performing Arts Centre will be transformed into an exhibition space for our Year 12 HSC Major works, including live performances, multimedia displays and gallery exhibitions. From fashion to drama; multimedia to music; ceramics to civil wars; there will be something for everyone. Junior and Senior students alike are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to see works from a range of different subjects. This year we welcome Extension Science for the first time. Inaburra Parents & Friends are hosting a Trivia Night at Club Menai on Saturday 31 August at 7pm with the theme of Around the World. Teams are encouraged to pick a country and come suitably dressed for their chosen nation – we are expecting sombreros, berets, lederhosen and all sorts of clichés and hope it is a fun night.  Book either single tickets or a table of ten. Inaburra School once again has the pleasure of hosting the Independent Dance Festival 2019.

The festival is a collaborative experience between independent schools that celebrates excellence in dance, encourages student participation and is an opportunity for industry networking.

This year will be one of the biggest festivals yet, involving around 200 students from 12 independent schools across the Sydney region.

The students arrive at Inaburra having already rehearsed and choreographed their work. During the day they attend a workshop with an industry professional focusing on creative movement, artistic expression and collaborative group work. At the end of the day the schools all come together to showcase their works in a professionally orchestrated performance in our PAC Theatre.

We invite you to join us for this free event to celebrate this aspect of our creative arts program and support our wonderful dancers.

Inaburra’s Year 12 Class of 2019 will celebrate their graduation on Wednesday 25 September from 7:00pm-9:00pm with a Formal Assembly in the Performing Arts Centre. Here they will receive their awards and graduation certificates in front of family and peers. This signifies the end of their official schooling at Inaburra and is a moment that is both celebratory and bittersweet for everyone involved in this journey. Year 12 Students, Parents, Caregivers and Staff are invited to attend and help us celebrate the Inaburra Graduating Class of 2019. Contact the Community Relations Office for details.

To help parents and caregivers devise ways to better connect with their teenagers, Inaburra School is hosting a panel discussion to focus on teen mental health and well-being.

Our panel will comprise of four professionals in the field, Dr Andrew Parkin (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist), Julia London (Clinical, Educational and Developmental Psychologist), along with Inaburra Senior School Counsellors, Michelle DeRieve and Maria Taylor.

They will be tackling a number of questions such as:

• What is the biggest ‘fail’ a parent can do when it comes to a child with anxiety?
• My child spends a lot of time in their room alone. Should I be concerned?
• My child is regularly fighting against going to school- what should I do?
• My child is sleeping between two households, how do I create and protect a safe and stable environment?
• My teenager appears more moody than normal, is this just hormones, or should I be looking out for something else?
• I can see that my child’s friends are regularly having a negative effect on their wellbeing, when/how do I intervene?

There will also be an opportunity for questions from the audience.

Where are they now?

Inaburra School is inviting former Year 10 – Year 12 students from the graduating classes of 2014, 2009, 1999 and 1989 to an Alumni Reunion on Saturday 19 October from 3:00pm – 5:30pm in the Inaburra Performing Arts Centre.

Inaburra’s Alumni Relations team would love to meet you, welcome you to the Alumni network and, most importantly, celebrate your significant graduation milestones:

Class of 1989 – 30 Years

This is a great opportunity to reconnect with fellow graduates and staff over a celebratory afternoon tea and take a tour of the school guided by our Principal Dr James Pietsch. Students can reminisce over an archive display of journals and photos from years gone by, and record the moment with an official group photo of each graduating class. Immediate family are welcome. This is a free event.

GUEST SPEAKER – LEN PASCOE
Len Pascoe is part of Australia’s cricketing history, making his debut against England in 1977 and going on to play 14 Tests for Australia before joining World Series Cricket. Len will take a humorous look at cricket in the 70’s, share his own achievements and observations of today’s game. In addition to his witty repertoire Len will also deliver a strong motivational message for our young aspiring sportsmen and women; talking about what it takes to be a successful first class sportsman, and how those characteristics transpose into school or the workplace.

You are warmly invited to attend the Inaburra Dance Showcase for 2019.

This is a performance night for Elective Dance and Co-curricular Dance at Inaburra School and showcases the performance works and compositions developed throughout the year by our Junior and Senior students.

More than just a showcase of performance works, this is an opportunity to celebrate the creative and collaborative achievements of our Dance Ensembles and their Teachers.

Join us prior to the concert for a family BBQ at 4:30pm. The music performance will commence at 5:30pm. The ensembles performing in the Junior School performance will be: Senior Concert Band, Junior Training Band, Year 1 Strings, Elementary Strings, Junior School Choir, Junior Percussion Ensemble, Junior Strings, Senior Stage Band and the Junior Concert Band.
