CSSA Cricket Finals

Under 15

The Under 15 Cricket team headed to Toronto on Friday 17 March to play Carinya Christian School (Tamworth) in the final of the CSSA competition. Playing on turf Carinya won the toss elected to bat in warm conditions. Opening Bowlers Mitchell Searles (1-3) and Liam Speechley (2-4) bowled a tight line restricting Carinya to 0-7 off 8 overs. Mitchell took the opening wicket of the game sending the stumps flying. Ethan Stoddart bowled a great spell of spin finishing with figures of (2-19). Will Simpson also did some damage with the ball taking (3-23). Wickets consistently fell with some great fielding and Carinya ended up all out for 94 off 33 overs. Ethan Epplett opened the batting and was the rock throughout the run chase making 43. Ethan Stoddart chipped in with 24 as Inaburra looked comfortable throughout their innings. Ben Dicello ended up knocking the ball through the outfield to score the winning runs. A great team effort throughout the competition. The team will continue their season when they face off against St Luke’s Grammar in the Wiburd Shield next week.

Open Cricket

The Open Cricket team faced off against Pacific Hills CS on Friday 17 March at Barden Ridge Playing Fields. Inaburra batted first and found themselves in trouble at 4-29 after 9 overs. A steady partnership between Saul Spyrdies (58) and Lukas Manns (18) ensured that Inaburra set a total of 133 for the win. Pac Hills started their batting innings with a 53 run opening partnership before Thomas Staples (1-16) got the breakthrough wicket. Pacific Hills continued to bat well and ended up scoring the winning runs with 12 balls to spare. The Open team will now play Riverina Anglican College on Tuesday 14th March in the Douglas Shield.

CSSA Hockey

The Inaburra Hockey teams played at the CSSA State Gala day on Thursday 22 February at Macarthur Regional Hockey Centre. The 2023 teams consisted of some experienced players and some newcomers to the sport. A big thankyou to Mrs Lynch who held a number of morning training sessions for students in the lead up. The girls played some good team hockey and improved throughout the day. The boys ended up playing in the grand final and a goal by Heath Dibden in golden goal ensured they beat Covenant CS to be CSSA State Champions.
