CIS Primary Boys Football (Soccer) Trials
Lachlan Redmond (Year 5) was invited to play in a “Barbarian” team (made up with boys from different associations) at the CIS Primary Boys Football (Soccer) trials on Thursday 31 March. He impressed selectors so much that out of 10 goalies trialling on the day he made it down to the final 3. He also saved 12 goals, an outstanding effort from Lachlan who is only in Year 5 up against boys in Year 6. Well done Lachlan!
PSSA State Swimming Championships
Rachael Young represented CIS at the NSW PSSA State Swimming Championships at Homebush on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 April where she competed in two of the most difficult events on the program – the 50m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley. Taking 3 seconds off her personal best in the 200IM with a time of 3:16.24 she placed 13th out of 38 competitors. In the 50m Butterfly she finished 15th overall in another fast time of 39.15. Congratulations Rachael on an outstanding term of swimming and personal bests, swimming faster and faster at each level of representation.
Junior School Cross Country Carnival
Due to wet weather, our Junior School students competed in a different endurance event – the “Beep Test” – for their Cross Country Carnival and Sports Hero Day. Thank you to parents and students for getting behind the fundraiser to support The Salvation Army Flood Appeal through purchasing a Carnival Pack which students enjoyed for their lunch. Just over $1,800 was raised!
Congratulations to the following students who were ribbon winners on the day, and also to the winning house Buriburi!
We are looking to hold a Cross Country trial in Week 3 next term to determine our Inaburra Cross Country Team, who will compete at the CSSA Primary State Cross Country Championship in Week 5. Further details to be confirmed and will be communicated to students who have qualified. Note: U8 and 9 age groups are combined at State. Getting a ribbon at our school event does not automatically qualify your child for our Cross Country trial.
