The Inaburra School Board is delighted to announce that following an extensive national and international search in partnership with Hutton Consulting Australia, Dr Robert Loe has been appointed as the next Principal of Inaburra School, commencing in 2027. His appointment follows a thorough and highly competitive selection process, and the Board is unanimous in its decision to appoint Dr Loe to lead Inaburra into its next chapter.
Dr Loe is an accomplished educational leader with more than 25 years’ experience in both the United Kingdom and Australia. He is currently Deputy Principal – Academics at The Scots College, Sydney, where he leads teaching, learning and curriculum innovation, fostering evidence-informed practice, professional growth and a culture of continuous improvement across the College. Prior to this appointment, he served as Director of Research and Learning Innovation at The Scots College, following senior executive leadership roles with Christian Schools Australia and the Relationships Foundation. Earlier in his career, Dr Loe was an Assistant Principal in England and held a range of curriculum and faculty leadership positions while also teaching and mentoring future educators through the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University.
An active member of St Matthias Anglican Church, Sydney, Dr Loe is a deeply committed Christian whose faith has shaped his personal life and professional vocation. He believes that schools play a vital role in the formation of young people in the development of wisdom, character and service. His experience across Christian schools and organisations has deepened his conviction that authentic relationships, academic excellence and Christ-centred leadership are mutually reinforcing foundations of flourishing school communities. These convictions resonate strongly with Inaburra’s mission and values.
Dr Loe graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Double First-Class Honours degree in English Literature with Education Studies before completing a professional doctorate in the measurement of human relationships and its application to organisational development, classroom climate and school leadership. He is widely recognised for his research and writing, having authored numerous publications, delivered keynote addresses around the world and is the founder of Relational Schools, a research organisation dedicated to strengthening relationships within school communities. His latest book entitled “The Relational Leader” will be published in 2027.
Throughout the selection process, the Board was particularly impressed by Dr Loe’s thoughtful leadership, strategic capability and commitment to people. His experience as Chief Executive Officer of the Relationships Foundation and Chair of the Chilford Hundred Education Trust has equipped him with strong expertise in educational leadership, governance and organisational strategy. His ability to build strong cultures, develop leaders and bring together communities around a shared purpose positions him well to lead Inaburra into the future.
Dr Loe has spoken warmly of his admiration for Inaburra’s Christ-centred culture and its commitment to every student being ‘known and loved’. He expressed a desire to build upon the outstanding work of those who have led before him and to honour Inaburra’s rich heritage while strengthening its strategic goals of building academic rigour, organisational integrity and Christian community partnerships.
Dr Loe, his wife Helen and their family are eager to meet Inaburra’s staff, students and parents and we look forward to extending a warm welcome to them in the months ahead. For the remainder of the year, the Board will continue to work closely with Mr Chris Smith (our current Acting Principal) to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition.
