Douglas Shield Cricket

For the first time in school history, Inaburra has taken out the prestigious Douglas Shield Cricket competition. The state-wide competition draws some of the biggest country Independent schools, making it a competition of the highest standard. Inaburra faced off against Northern Beaches CS in the final at Terry Hills Oval. Inaburra bowled first and some tight bowling kept Northern beaches to 116. Captain Lachlan Ritchie finished with figures of 3 for 16, Alex O’Connor 3 for 35 and rising star Franklin Yenson 4 for 21. Inaburra chased down the total with overs to spare and the loss of five wickets. Lachlan Ricthie topped the scoring with 41, Ashton Simpson 27, Ethan Stoddart 21 and Ryan Owers 20. A wonderful performance from a talented young team.

Under 15 Girls Football

After wins over Cronulla HS and Shire CS, the U15 girls faced Kirrawee on Wednesday 3 May at Seymour Shaw. The girls played some good football but eventually went down 1-0 in a close encounter. The girls will now turn their attention to the CSSA South Met Gala Day in Week 6.

Under 15 Boys Football

After Blakehurst HS forfeited round 1 of the Bill Turner U15 boys, our team faced Woolooware. Going down 1-0 early, the boys dominated large parts of the game and eventually scored an equaliser with two minutes on the clock. Disappointingly, the boys ended up going down in the dreaded penalty shootout.

CIS Swimming

A big Inaburra team headed out to the CIS Swimming Championships held at SOPAC on Monday 1 May and Tuesday 2 May. Inaburra had 11 relay teams competing on night one of competition. Some strong performances were on show as the majority of teams dropped times from the CSSA State meet in term 2. 13 students headed back to SOPAC for individual swims on day 2. Congratulations to Max Maurer and Beau Matthews who have both qualified to compete at NSW All Schools In June. A big thankyou to Mr Wadds and Mr Smith for heading out to support our athletes.
