Elective Dance
Dance became an Elective subject at Inaburra in 2013 and continues to go from strength to strength. Dance education develops skills in self-expression, the communication of ideas, collaboration, creativity, problem solving, risk taking and higher-order thinking. It is a diverse course providing students with a range of universal skills that can be applied to a variety of industries and professions as well as fostering the specific skill set required by a student heading into a career in the dance industry.
Stage 5 Elective
Students can elect to study Dance from Year 9 (Stage 5), developing skills in dance performance, composition and appreciation.
Stage 6 Elective
Students continuing Dance as an Elective HSC subject (Stage 6), study the same three same components; Performance, Composition and Appreciation and develop their understanding of dance practice in relation to a wider appreciation of dance artists and their work. Students undertake an in-depth study of dance in a major study of one of the three components.
CALLBACK – Annual HSC Showcase
CALLBACK is the annual showcase of exemplary performances and compositions by HSC students of dance presented by the NSW Education Standards Authority and the NSW Department of Education. Each year, Inaburra students are nominated for possible inclusion in CALLBACK including two nominations in 2022.

Independent Dance Festival
Inaburra founded the Independent Schools Dance Festival in 2017 and has since become a highly sought-after event for schools in the Sydney catchment.
Each year, schools are invited to apply for inclusion in the event, with the successful schools participating in a one-day program of dance coaching and performing, with an evening showcase event presented to family and friends.
