This year has seen the continued growth of several projects in the Senior School including the further development  of our House System under the keen leadership of Mr Tim Lukins. We now have a logo for each House:

Students have been elected as House Captains and the following Year 10 students are congratulated on being elected to lead their House:

Guriwala – William Chen and Eliza O’Shea
Galu – Juliette Dingle and Thomas Kelly
– Mitchell Searles and Elleri Ritchard
Buriburi – Ryah Helou and Cameron Metcalfe

Prefect Team Leadership Roles

Our School Captains, Sienna Thorpe and Christos Gatzastras, and the Prefects have been busy organising their fund raising and have chosen to support Mission Australia this year. They have organised for a representative to speak at our Senior School assembly so that students can become aware of the important work of this organisation.

This week, Sienna, Chris and Ms Aliferis also led the school in reflecting on International Women’s Day; the need to recognise and support the plight of women across the world who are subject to violence and discrimination. They also reflected on the need to celebrate the achievements of both women and men as we continue to develop as a community.

Sporting Success

Our Sport results have been amazing this term which reflect the efforts of staff to provide training so early in the mornings and the effort of students to attend the training. Thank you also to the many parents who are driving their students to these sessions. Mr Tolhurst has reflected on the success of the program in enabling our students to work together as a team. I would like to thank Mr Tolhurst publicly for all his work in organising this program.

Applying for Term Time Holiday Leave

Applications for Term Time Holiday Leave should be made well in advance with consideration given to events on the School Calendar. Applications should not be made for absence during Assessment and Examination weeks or major events such as NAPLAN. It is difficult for students who miss such events and difficult for parents who have to rearrange plans if the application is rejected.

Mobile Phone Use and Emailing During the Day

A prospective family recently told me that one of their reasons for selecting Inaburra was because of its policy that mobile phones are not to be used during the school day. Our school community enables students to flourish and focus on their learning without the distraction caused by mobile phones and constant messaging during the day.

For this reason we ask parents not to contact their child by mobile phone or email during the school day. If you wish to contact your child, please ring the school office and we will facilitate this communication for you. It puts a child in a very difficult position when a parent is asking them to use their phone and the school rule says there is to be no use of mobile phones.

If a student wishes to contact a parent, the protocol is for the student to come to the Senior School office and request that they be allowed to use their phone for that purpose.
