Record Breakers
U15 Cricket – Wiburd Shield Semi-Final
The boys travelled down to sunny Wollonong to play a tough game against the visiting school Scots Albury. Under sunny blue skies Albury batted first and after a sensational opening bowling spell from Franklin Yenson found themselves all out for 44. Credit to the team fro taking a number of great catches. A shaky start with the bat saw early wickets fall. Sitting at 2/1 after 3 overs the chase wasn’t going to be easy. A solid partnership between Jordyn Barry and Nik O’Flynn steadied the innings and saw Inaburra pass the total for the loss of 4 wickets. The boys will play the wiburd final later in the term.
CIS Girls Football – Round 2 V Norwest CS
The Open girls played Norwest CS in round 2 of the CIS Trophy. The girls were very strong defensively, but found their momentum in front of goals and scored some very impressive team goals. The build-up play through their passing was great and they moved the opposition around.
In defence, the team was one unit and that showed only conceding one goal. Special mention to Chelsea B who scored four goals. The girls ran out 8-1 winners.
CIS Boys Football – Round 2 V Newington
After a round 1 win over Amity College the Open Boys Football team travelled to Fraser Park to take on a well trained and drilled Newington side. The boys fell behind to an own goal after 25 minutes to go into the break 1-0 down. After struggling to hold the ball for long periods of time and in hot conditions many of the students fatigued. Newington scored four late goals to run out convincing winners. Special mention to Thomas Staples in goals who pulled off a number of fine saves.
CSSA Open Football Trials
Zac Seeto and Ashton Simpson headed out to the CSSA Open Football trials at Valentine Sports Park last week. After a tough day of trias Ashton was selected in the CSSA team that will play at the CIS Championships later in the year.
