Mission Week is always a wonderful highlight in the calendar and we are finishing up this week with a spirit of gratefulness for all that God has done not just this week, but throughout a busy, challenging term.

During Mission Week this week students participated in daily activities centred around the theme of JOY. Woven into the many and varied fun games and activities were sharing segments from teachers, visitors and peers around what joy means to them and how it is connected to a deep knowledge of who we are in Christ.

I want to acknowledge and congratulate Mrs Peddie on her hard work and dedication to organise a week of wonderful, engaging activities for the students. It’s always a huge task to coordinate Mission Week, and Mrs Peddie did an exceptional job. Thank you also to the many Junior School staff who supported and led various activities throughout the program.

Last week under difficult weather conditions, we hosted our revised program of activity for the Cross Country Carnival and Sports Hero Day. Students competed in a ‘beep test’ challenge and enjoyed a special lunch with some of the proceeds going to support The Salvation Army Flood Appeal. Despite the event not going ahead in its traditional format, Mrs Carroll and Mrs Agren worked hard to ensure the day ran smoothly and was enjoyable for our students. Buriburi was crowned House Champion – well done!

This week we also enjoyed the sounds of our Junior Music Ensembles performing under the COLA. Thank you to Miss Geering and our Music teachers and tutors who organised this opportunity for our students to perform to a live audience and showcase all that they have achieved in just one term. It was evident to all who attended just what a delight it was to be able to gather ‘in the round’ and celebrate music and the ways in which it nourishes the spirit.

Some quick reminders:

  • The Junior School Leadership team has made the decision that all students are to wear the Inaburra hat or cap whenever they are outside to play (before school, recess and lunch) or at sport during all 4 terms of the school year. Please assist by making sure your child/ren has a clearly labelled hat or cap ready for day 1 of Term 2 (Thursday 28 April).
  • Our Anzac Day assembly will be held on Friday 29 April commencing at 11:00am in the PAC.
  • Save The Date: June 7 – Grandparent’s Day

Finally, I would like to wish all our families a wonderful, safe Easter break. I pray that it’s a lovely time of gathering together and remembering the important events of the very first Easter.
