Considerations When Doing A TVET Subject And The HSC
Please be advised that TAFE is an adult learning environment and is separate to school. TAFE simply advises the school of any absences and provides a progress report for the student half way through the course. The report will simply say that the student is "Competent" or "Not Yet Competent". Often "Not Yet Competent" only means that they still have to complete the course but in some cases, work that is still outstanding. TAFE sometimes doesn't have the same HSC focus that school does. Your child will need to take an initiative in his/her own learning and make sure that he/she understands what is expected from day one for doing well in the HSC exam.
